I'm a list maker. I always have been. And I mean like a real pen and paper list, not a phone app list. These last couple days my life has been consumed with "list making." An idea list, an exterior materials list, an interior materials list, a "neat color combos" list and so on. So much so that today Callie didn't ask for crayons to color she asked for crayons so she could make a list. 😂
My husband hasn't been too assertive about any certain things the camper just HAS TO HAVE (he rarely is about anything, which is why I'm fairly certain God gave him to me, Mrs. My Way or The Highway herself). BUT I am trying to become better about not always having to be in control of everything and listening when he does have ideas. He's never once complained about me being this way but I'm on a journey to become a more Godly wife and I figured this would be the best way for me to start! SO when he said he thinks it would be awesome for the outside of the camper to be black to match the Tahoe I admit, I cringed a little. My vision of turquoises and corals and beiges didnt mesh with a black camper. Without out even thinking about it I told him this, he replied, "It doesn't matter if the outside of the camper and the inside of the camper match." DOUBLE CRINGE! Yes, yes it does matter if the inside and outside match! Now I KNOW, without a doubt, I could easily convince him to change his mind about the black camper if I didn't want a black camper. After all, this camper is MY dream, it's what I've been wanting and the vision in my head is GORGEOUS! Well, as gorgeous and glamorous as a pop up camper can get.
If marriage is "all about compromise" then my husband was exceeding with flying colors and I was miserably failing. 90% of the time what I want goes and the other 10% is doing what our daughter wants because apparently I'm creating a mini-me in every way possible. I've made small changes over the last few weeks, I asked my husband to get the boys dressed for baseball practice without setting their clothes out on my own. I panicked a little when they got home and I saw what they wore. I know you're thinking I'm crazy.
BUT ANYWAYS! Back to the camper! I decided if he wanted a black camper we were going to have a black camper and I would be flexible and change my ideas and everything was still going to be just fine! LoL I know, I know yall are probably REALLY thinking I'm crazy! But we all have our issues and I'm actively trying fix mine so I'm happy!
So I got to work- the factory canvas was beige and while I'm trying to be go with the flow that's just not going to cut it if the hard part was black. We had already discussed that a new canvas needed to be our first purchase because without it well everything else was pretty much pointless. I researched catalogs, Pinterest and pop up portal. I even considered sewing my own after reading a blog about it. But seriously even I realized that was biting off more than I could chew. Then I found it! A company that created custom fit canvas covers for pop ups and grey was a color option!! 💥🌟💥 This camper is still going to be cute!! And according to my husband we're going to look awesome driving down the road in our black Tahoe and black camper. And who doesn't want to look awesome?!? LoL
My husband had two ideas on the camper: black exterior and LED lights (because he has a weird obsession with lights of all kinds). So our camper is going to be black with led lights. And this camper is going to be a learning experience on more than just DIY skills. 🙏
I've become a naptime blogger and I love it! Even if no one ever reads I am thoroughly enjoying writing again 😄
